UNO - Up North Orienteers

We are a dynamic and friendly orienteering club, noted for welcoming newcomers, for our families with children of various ages, and for our top-level national competitors. Our objective is to foster and promote orienteering as a recreational and competitive sport.

We offer a full schedule of orienteering in New Hampshire. Our event schedule is dominated by local meets (designed for beginners, casual orienteers, and competitive types). Please check for additional events in the orienteering web sites from our neighboring states:

    Saturday, June 28, Canoe-O at Secret site in Fitchburg/Westminster MA region (follow O-signs to registration)
    Courses: Short Medium Long -- Courses Close: 3:00 PM
    Registration: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Staggered Starts: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
    Comments: Open to all canoes, kayaks; singles, doubles, triples, and quads, experts and beginners. No rental boats on-site but meet director has loaner boats for meet helpers who volunteer in advance.
    Directions: Take Mass Route 2 to Exit 27, Depot Rd/Narrows Rd, between Fitchburg and Westminster, and follow O-signs.

    Sunday, June 29, Ahern State Forest, Laconia NH
    Courses: 2 Sprints, White, Yellow, Orange
    Directions: From I-93, take exit 20. Go north about 7 miles on Rt 3, then Rt 11A to downtown Laconia. At the light, go left onto Main St/Rt 106 (Landmark Inn will be on your left). Follow Main St/Rt 106 north 2.4 miles, turn left into the entrance to the Laconia State Prison. Take an immediate left onto the dirt road at the Ahern State Park sign.
    From the seasoast area, take Rt 11 north past the Laconia Airport, then Business Rt 3 towards downtown Laconia. At the light at Lakeport Square (Fratello's Restaurant on your left) take a right onto Elm St. Go 1.7 miles to the light, turn left onto Parade Road/Rt 106 south. Take the first right (0.5 miles) into the entrance to the Laconia State Prison. Take an immediate left onto the dirt road at the Ahern State Park sign.

    Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 6-7, UNO's ANNUAL CAMPING WEEKEND, Pawtuckaway State Park, Nottingham, NH
    Save the date for a weekend of orienteering fun. Two separate days of courses, plus the usual extras (canoeing, vampire-o, potluck dinner). Come for either day or both. Courses String, W, Y, O, G, R, B. See the 2008 Camping Weekend Flyer (.pdf)

    Saturday, Sept. 20, Joe English conservation Area, Amherst, NH
    Registration and Starts 10 - 1, Courses W,Y,O,G,R,Get-All?
    Directions: From Rt. 101 in Amherst, turn onto Horace Greeley Road. Horace Greeley is located between the Basket Barn and Salzburg Square, on the north side of Route 101. Proceed on Horace Greeley Rd for a few blocks. After crossing a small stream, immediately turn left onto Brook Road and proceed all the way to the end (about 2 1/2 miles). The pavement turns to dirt for the last 3/4 mile. Brook Road is narrow and twisty, please drive slowly. This is a residential neighborhood. Parking is limited so please car pool and/or park closely.
