Canoe-O Results

After being beached by rain twice as I tried to set up punches, I
was wondering whether the weather and busy convention schedule 
would allow anyone to complete the Canoe-O.  I was pleased to discover 
that 16 groups did partake in the event (and also heard that at least 
3 other groups went out and found controls but did not submit a punch 
card).  In several cases, no time was stated on the card so I've listed 
them as if they took exactly 60 minutes.  Thanks to Lex Bundschuh for 
paddling me out to the water controls.  She went out a second day after 
we were marooned by a storm on the northern point of the lake near 
control 10.  Thank you to Pat and James Russell who saved me a follow 
up trip to Sargent Center by picking up the punches Wednesday night. 
In addition, my family helped me scout out the course in advance and 
my son Paul trekked with me several times to hang streamers and punches 
on the drycontrols.  Also a big thanks to the Sargent Center staff for 
all their help (providing and assisting with equipment, helping Lex and
me off "Gilligan's Point", collecting our beached canoe when a second 
storm approached).
