Fort Rock Exeter, NH October 17, 2004 Event Director: Tony Federer The weather could not have been any better for this Fort Rock "Quick-O"-style event, but a greater attendance would have been nice. I did not do any local publicity, relying on the UNO and NEOC list-serves, and the web site to bring out the runners. Evidently this was not enough. Fort Rock's technical O terrain once again proved a difficult place at which to "run up" a level. Consequently there were a large percentage of non-finishers (HHFA = Hopefully Had Fun Anyway). On the positive side Boy Scouts Andy Barnes and Aidan Haggerty completed a beginner orienteering course, now a requirement for Senior Scouts. With a bit of "running down" the Federer-Hall family swept the first places, totally independently of the meet director. Ruutopold juniors did much better than Ruutopold seniors; Alar showed that even vast experience does not prevent skipping a control.
